Congratulations, it’s a bouncing baby blog

Not long after I learned I was going to be a father, I started to see things differently. Scratch that… I still saw things the same, I was just now being forced to look at things I’d never seen. You see, I’ve been a graphic designer — professionally speaking — for almost 20 years. And I’ve been drawing and doodling and essentially being a designer-in-training long before that. But I’ve only been a father for a year.

So as soon as I realized my impending daddydom, I did what any responsible father-to-be would do. I started researching, Googling, asking around, comparing, and learning about all of the stuff I was going to have to buy. The world of baby products, furniture, clothes fashion, books, toys, etc. etc. was all very foreign, plastic, and generally not esthetically pleasing to me.

To clarify, this site is not about how to raise a designer baby. Or a “designer baby.” Or how to be the hipster dad everyone loves to hate. It is merely a creative and cathartic outlet for an almost-lifelong designer to reconcile his new identity as a daddy.

This blog debuts on the first birthday of my son. It is a gift to him as my greatest inspiration and motivation. And it is a testament to my ability as a father — that I was able to keep him healthy and happy for one whole year feels like quite an accomplishment. Also, I would have started it a lot sooner, but what responsible parent of a newborn has time to blog?
